Dedicated to Linkin Park singer, Chester Bennington, it details how I felt upon hearing of the passing of one of my musical heroes, and also acts as a message: even the people we think would be immune to depression can often suffer from it. We all need help sometimes.
lyrics
That morning I woke up to the worst news in the world - you'd gone
I couldn't believe that you would never sing again, oh no
That morning I broke down, didn't want to face the day alone
I couldn't believe that you had been in so much pain, oh no
You can fight against your demons but sometimes you can't win
Sometimes we cry
And there's no one to hold us, hold us close
Sometimes we fall
And there's no one to pick us up and help us on our way
Sometimes we're lost
And there's no one to guide us, guide us home
Sometimes we need help
Even the best of us, the best of us
'Cos even heroes have bad days
When I was feeling down I'd find myself listening to you
You'd lift me out of my haze and give me a reason to smile again
When I had lost myself your words would be in my mind, so true
I know you had lived your life trying to fight the hurt inside
You can save so many people, but sometimes not yourself
Sometimes we cry
And there's no one to hold us, hold us close
Sometimes we fall
And there's no one to pick us up and help us on our way
Sometimes we're lost
And there's no one to guide us, guide us home
Sometimes we need help
Even the best of us, the best of us
'Cos even heroes have bad days
